In light of the remarkable resurgence of Chic and Nile Rodgers over the last few years, I couldn't resist putting together a mix of my favourite Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards productions... Two brilliant jazz-funk musicians whose chemistry produced a catalogue of timeless dance music that has brought joy to so many people over the last few decades and is now doing so for a new generation. Nile's return to popular music is reflected in my inclusion of one of his recent Daft Punk collaborations and his re-working of a Chic classic with Sam London. Both of which I think are great. Nile Rodgers is a (le) freak of nature, and I mean that in a complimentary way. He's a genius. His mind gushes music and a great deal of it ends up being loved by people all over the world. Imagine a world without the music of Nile Rodgers? I know, it's a horrible thought. Thank goodness for Nile Rodgers, and for the late Bernard Edwards who channelled the waterfall of music from Nile's mind into those early Chic classics, setting them on the path to becoming a legendary music partnership. Here's the tracklist: Chic - City Lights Sam London (Ft. Nile Rodgers) - Move Your Body Chic - Everybody Dance (12" mix) Chic - Le Freak Chic - Dance, Dance, Dance David Bowie - Let's Dance INXS - Original Sin (Dance Version) Chic - Strike Up The Band Diana Ross - Upside Down Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out Duran Duran - Notorious Chic - I Want Your Love Sister Sledge - Thinking Of You Sister Sledge - He's The Greatest Dancer Fonzi Thornton - I'll Change My Game Daft Punk - Lose Yourself To Dance Chic - Good Times The Sugarhill Gang - Rappers Delight Modjo - Lady (Hear me Tonight) Chic - Soup For One Chic - Chic Cheer Chic - My Forbidden Lover Sister Sledge - Reach Your Peak Sister Sledge - Got To Love Somebody
