Mix Eighty Six

Due to recent events, this mix ended up becoming a tribute to Johnny Kemp, Ben E. King and the one and only Louis Johnson, who have all passed away recently.

Some terrific music here, including some delightfully funky stuff from Ben E. King, which I only discovered researching this mix. What else can said about Louis Johnson that hasn't already been said? One half of funksters the Brothers Johnson, a great success in their right, and also one of Quincy Jones's production team throughout the seventies and eighties, laying down some incredible bass lines on so many hits - and some of my favourite of all time. A supreme talent who made a wonderful contribution to the golden age of jazz-funk, soul and disco.
